Ember Moth – Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Ember Moth app (Android, iOS and web versions) handles information. It is published at https://papermoongames.app/ember-moth/privacy/.
Summary
- Paper Moon Games collects nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no chat, no analytics and no tracking. We never receive your game data.
- Gentle ads from Google AdMob. The Android app shows non-personalized, child-directed ads, rated G, and never uses an advertising ID.
- Plays offline. The game works without an internet connection; ads are shown only when the device is online.
Information stored on your device
To remember your game, Ember Moth saves the following only on your device (app storage / browser local storage):
- embers, best scores, records and achievements;
- finished missions, rank, earned moth friends and the lead moth;
- unlocked skins and the equipped skin, unlocked skies and the chosen sky;
- moon-calendar stamps and Daily Sky results (date, best score, number of flights);
- a simple count of how many times the game was opened (used only on the device to space out ads);
- music, sound, night-sound, haptics, controls and accessibility settings.
This data never leaves your device and is not sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app (or clearing the browser's site data) deletes it.
Motion sensor (optional tilt steering)
Tilt steering is off unless you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, the game reads your device's orientation only while you play, to steer the moth. The readings are used instantly and are never stored or sent anywhere. On iPhone and iPad the system asks for motion access only when you turn tilt on.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Android app shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK, with Google's User Messaging Platform for consent where the law requires it). Every ad request is:
- non-personalized: ads are not based on your interests or past behavior;
- child-directed: tagged for child-directed treatment (COPPA) and as under the age of consent (GDPR), with the maximum ad content rating set to G (general audiences);
- without the advertising ID: the app removes the advertising ID permission (
AD_ID), so the Android advertising ID is not used.
Google AdMob processes limited device data (such as IP address and device info) to serve and measure these non-personalized, child-directed ads and to prevent fraud. Paper Moon Games does not receive this data. If Google's consent message is required where you live (for example in the EEA, UK or Switzerland), it is shown before any ad is requested, and a Privacy choices button appears in Settings so you can change your choice. The web version and the iOS build do not load the Google AdMob SDK at this time.
Ad limits: Reward ads are always optional: you choose to watch one to keep going once per run (+6 moths), for a lantern shield before a run (one per run) or to double a run's embers (once per run). Between-run ads appear only when you leave the results screen: at most every 3rd game over, at least 3 minutes apart, never during a run, never after a Daily Sky run, never in your first two sessions and never right after a reward ad. There are no banner ads.
Ads never change difficulty: the forest and the wind follow the same rules for everyone. Moth friends are earned only by playing and are never sold. If an ad cannot load (for example when the device is offline), the reward option is simply hidden and the game keeps working.
Purchases
This version has no in-app purchases. If purchases are added in a future version, this policy will be updated first, and every purchase will sit behind a parental gate.
Permissions
On Android the app uses only: INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (needed by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to fetch ads) and VIBRATE (optional haptic feedback, which can be turned off in Settings). It does not use the advertising ID, location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage permissions. Tilt steering uses the standard orientation sensor, which needs no permission on Android.
Families and players of all ages
Ember Moth is family-friendly for all ages. Paper Moon Games does not collect personal information from anyone, including users under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). As an ad setting, every ad request is tagged child-directed and under the age of consent, is non-personalized and is limited to G-rated content, in line with COPPA, GDPR and the Google Play Families policy.
Third parties
The only third-party SDK in the Android app is Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform), described above. Ember Moth has no analytics, no Firebase, no crash reporting and no social SDKs. App stores (Google Play, Apple App Store) may collect information under their own privacy policies when you download the app.
On CrazyGames
On CrazyGames: when you play on crazygames.com, ads and any saved progress are handled by CrazyGames under its own privacy policy (https://www.crazygames.com/privacy-policy). Paper Moon Games still collects no personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the address above with a new effective date.
